In astrology, our Venus placement illuminates our affections; our passions; our affinities and connections to the sensory world. Here, our carnal bodies and sensual enjoyments act as potential gateways to higher dimensions.

Accordingly, there is a fiery, ferocious and wild aspect of Venus worthy of discussion, often eclipsed by visions of silk, shells and poetic verse smeared in honey, as Claire Nakti mentions. This topic will be expanded upon in next posts, but it is best to first discuss the element of Fire. Subsequently, I will provide simple rituals, but let’s explore the cosmic and energetic dimensions, and work downwardly. Please see the full link in bio for an uninterrupted read.

ON FIRE

Fire is most precisely a ‘perfect’ element; it has a robust appetite, as its sacred function is to consume impurities while remaining pure itself. Fire relates to burning limitations and energetic impurities, to expand and transcend.

Let’s contrast Fire element with Water, as Fire and Water are complementary in Ayurveda. Water has a tremendous mystical, magnetic power, which is why its function in ritual is to ‘gather’ or ‘bring in’ energy, as it relates to the Yin/lunar aspect of the Cosmos, its position is ‘to hold’ or ‘embrace.’ Thus, water is also the element most likely to become contaminated alchemically.

All persons, but notably natives with dominant water element in the natal chart, should develop relationship to Fire ritual, as it purifies, integrates and broadens consciousness. It is worth mentioning: a ritual’s intrinsic effectiveness is determined by its integrity and intensity, not its complexity. The simple act of lighting incense in tandem with prayer or meditation for a small number of minutes is sufficient to start.

To review, the entire manifested universe is comprised of the great Five Elements, both gross and subtle in nature. These elements are energetically contained in the subtle, etheric or light bodies surrounding the physical body; and can be purified to great spiritual benefit. The ‘purpose’ of Tantric practice (to be awfully reductive, as this cannot be defined or qualified plainly) is to purify the subtle bodies. The stirred Kundalini Shakti relates to fiery Bhairavi, to be discussed. Kundalini can then uncoil, slither upwardly and merge with Her Shiva in the Crown. This is an intense, arduous process, often taking life times to complete.

Eventually, in consciousness, there is less separation between the worldly and the spiritual; simultaneously, everything is divinely itself and beyond itself. So, we are often speaking about the relationship between the physical and non-physical; and how to transform objects or acts, into subtler or more ‘divine’ objects or acts.

For those of you familiar with the Western Esoteric Tradition, you will find some correspondence in Elphias Levi’s statement: "Hermeticism is the science of nature hidden in the hieroglyphics and symbols of the ancient world. It is the search for the principle of life, along with the dream (for those who have not achieved it yet) of accomplishing the Great Work, which is the reproduction of the divine, natural fire which creates and recreates beings."
