THE BIRTH OF VENUS

“We live in an age that reads too much to be wise.” -Oscar Wilde

I was softly toiling on how to introduce the Lady who chars our Hearts with sweetening ferocity; She who dwells within many sensual intermediaries, filling mortals with fury, holy passion and incomprehensible Love; but for now, we will call her Venus.

There is a sense that Flesh and Spirit are entirely separate, and by this end, cool rage has seared the Psyche. To love the body, is to relinquish Spirit; and to know only Spirit, one must fall beyond the World. This is simply not so. Words that must not, and cannot, be limited to Letter, must be placed elsewhere; so these Words are sewn into Nature itself, glittering there to be gotten. The mysteries flicker within the carnal alleyways of Earth, Dream and Body; and the phantoms lacing the Dead Moon decry us to fall into our sensual natures. Any text or ritual will stay veiled, thin and exoteric until this is satisfied. That is why Shakti is ever deeper than the body, but the body itself.

Now, this very morning, there was an indigo snow seeping through my window; how peculiar for Texas! A roused, wafting mist hanging thickly to willows; every conceivable point of visibility consumed by a pallid mantle—impenetrable, and peppered with soft blue. The only weather for Venus, so she may wear her Furs. There she lays, amidst a cluster of draperies; her bright green eyes towering in the icy black of her hair; the fabrics of Angels, and Her Olde Hands, Her Olde Choirs. Such artful, terrible radiance; how can you not fall wildly in love with Her?

Those who spew venoms, curdles and curses because they cannot hold Her, they cannot know Her; those who bid both her Lilies and her Roses to Mud; they thicken only in misery.

One who holds Venus in Heart, sincerely and devoutly, not for venal benefit by itself, but in Love; One who fulfills her Gilded Serpent; One who worships it, who devotes this Self to Her—only this One will penetrate the Outer Gateways.

Note: This photo was taken on Gabriel, a lake nestled down the street from my house. Gabriel is an archangel corresponding to Moon, astral realm and Yesod. I deemed this mystical water scenery a beautiful way to visually weave in the birth story of Venus. This piece was written with Priestess Gabrielle Dominque in Mind, as today is her birthday; and she is kissed heavily by Venus and Moon in her natal chart! Fairly relatedly, I often refer to Kundalini in my own writings playfully as ‘Lady of the Emerald Lake,’ with the other main reference in this title being obvious.

Furthermore, today is the New Moon and a Jupiter/Venus conjunction. Also, the Day of Eleven; the master number in Magic/k for voluminous reasons; as the eleventh number of the modern English alphabet is ‘K’, hence ‘Magick’ etc.
