The Aquarian is a harbinger of philosophical freedom. Paradoxically, Aquarius reveals that it takes periods of solitude to truly comprehend the interdependent nature of Reality. Meaning, separation is the predecessor to cohesion (SOLVE & COAGULA).
Aquarius is ruled by Saturn, relating to Set, Shiva— ‘outsider’ deities who dwell about the desert, cremation grounds, and other sparse, liminal spaces. Aquarius is antithetical and adversarial, like Scorpio. In fact, many Aquarians are pushed out of their environment in order to truly differentiate what has existential or spiritual meaning to them, and what is illusory. Then they can help guide others truthfully, because “no matter where you go, there you are.” Whether in a gilded palace or barren fields bereft of any life soever, it is best to make a sanctuary within. Then, the mind becomes aglow with power to exert beyond the limits of methodical thought and action; extolled by the strange spell to tempt reason and rationale with spontaneity.
Shiva embodies the transcendent quality of chaos and destruction. Vimalananda says when the two eyes of Shiva are open, there is “left” and “right” or “day” and “night.” When this third eye is open, there is only undifferentiated awareness. We cannot qualify this state. When the third eye of transcendent wisdom is open, duality cannot possibly exist. This is the mystical implication of ‘destruction’ and why the gods take great pain to annihilate darkness. Darkness or ignorance proliferates and creates division in consciousness. We observe duality leads necessarily to multiplicity, which is the fruit & benefit of worldly experience. But duality must also lead back to cohesion, if we reverse the momentum. This is the path of Kundalini pushing back to Shiva.
Shiva is known to take many forms and may present in a form that ostensibly “has nothing to give you,” is not aesthetically attractive to you, etc., but wisdom trains our inner eye to see the substance, the essence, the meaning—the disparate fleck of divinity within all things. Aghora reveals beauty is ubiquitous; or to put it simply ‘to the pure all things are pure.’

Note: I wanted to compose something more cohesive, powerful and eloquent to illumine the Aquarian essence, my favorite sign, as a testament to the spirit of the outlaw. But this was the best I could do in the short period. It is an incredibly complex topic to discuss with any justice. The essence of the wisdom traditions is the essence of Aquarius. Also, it is August, 11th, eleven being a master number in MAGICK and mysticism. Happy Full Moon in Aquarius, everyone!
